So not since my Chung King days back in New York have I made a record with absolutely no guitars. I loved the challenge, but even more so I loved the songs that these guys had. Here are some pictures of Greg and John from Father Tiger. I also got to work with one of the best drummers I know on this

        04/14/10

We call this cat Wookie, but have no idea what his or her real name is. The cat belongs to one of the studio's neighbors but seems to love hanging around recording studios. An extremely friendly and extremely chill cat that looks great in a photo.

        10/17/09
I recently was contacted by a guy named David Smith that had to write a paper about a well recorded record and he chose Buckcherry's Timebomb. He asked me how the record was recorded which jogged my memory.

I thought I may as well repost it here if anyone is interested.

      • The Next
        10/13/09
Just spent two days writing songs with a cool young band from Australia called the Next. The sessions were in my friend Roy (Stone Sour/Amebix etc) Mayorga's studio in North Hollywood. There were three band members (the Singer and the two guitarists) plus Roy and myself there and we had a blast

The aptly named "Joe's House of Compression" is the private studio/playground of Joe Barresi. Joe is one of my favorite producers and also one of my closest friends, he is also the biggest collector of cool vintage audio gear that I personally know and his studio reflects that. Joe

        04/07/09
Tracking at Kingsize in Eagle Rock and the Lost Prophets are in the room next door which is cool as they are friends with the Twin Atlantic guys. Everyone is very amped about all the recent changes we made in preproduction so the vibe is great. I think they are also very happy to be recording live w

        04/06/09
First day tracking Twin Atlantic, the band brought in this new bass amp from Fender that sounded great. I have been a huge fan of Ashdown bass amps since the first time I heard one, a classic round tone with the option for a dirty modern growl. That combination coupled with my vintage Orange bass am

After finishing up the Social Code record I flew to Memphis to see the Answer play with AC/DC, their second last gig of this leg of the tour. 01/25/09
The last day of the record is usually a pretty action packed one, it always seems to be the day when the last few harmonies, keyboard parts, guitar overdubs and that essential flugelhorn part the record is crying out for and wouldn't sound complete without, are thought up and added.

      • Three musicians and a drummer
        01/25/09
There used to be a joke that a band consisted of three musicians and a drummer, but now it's more like three musicians hunched over laptops.

So this months Classic Rock Magazine from the UK has a great piece about the Answer in it,even though they spell my name wrong (it's not Travers guys!) they refer to me as a 'cock-rock supergenius' which may be the funniest and most awesome thing anyone has ever said about me. My frie

So we were recording some background vocals on the Social Code record and I wanted to get something that sat far away from the lead vocal. So we were driving around today looking at potential studios and Logan (the bass player) tells me about this studio built into an old racquetball court called Sound Extractor. That immediately got my interest piqued so we braved the freezing cold weather and headed over there. The studio is in an in
